Curriculum Features
- The course topics are closely related to students’ daily life, adopting activity-based teaching: role-playing, individual short speeches, presentations, group discussions, listening to Mandarin songs, games, etc. to improve students’ listening, speaking, reading aloud, spelling, and self-learning abilities.
- Targeting the learning difficulties of students from Cantonese-speaking regions, the curriculum analyzes the differences between Cantonese and Putonghua; it creates a learning environment for Putonghua, such as speeches during flag-raising ceremonies and morning assemblies, encouraging students to communicate confidently in Putonghua.
- The curriculum enhances relevant phonetic knowledge, as well as promotes activities to foster an understanding of Chinese culture.
Life-wide Learning
To enhance students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture, the curriculum offers four calligraphy lessons in the first semester and four tea ceremony lessons in the second semester, taught by professional external instructors. The Putonghua school-based curriculum helps students comprehend the essence of traditional Chinese culture.
