Life Planning

Life Planning Education

Career planning is essential, and it requires ongoing effort and management.
The starting point is oneself, and the ending point is also oneself- no one else can do the work for you.

Designing diversified school-based career planning courses
Help students make wise decisions about further education

Our school has career planning education programs from S.1 to S.6, which mainly help students understand their own interests, abilities, needs and aspirations, so that they can make wise choices about further study, training, and employment.

Encouraging participation in workplace experiences to understand the professional world

Our school encourages students to participate in the Business-School Partnership Program organized by the Education Bureau and the workplace experience activities provided by the YMCA. These provide students with the opportunity to step out of the classroom, understand the current situation in various industries, broaden their horizons, and prepare themselves for entering the workforce. Students can learn about the operations of the workplace and the requirements employers have for employees, become familiar with different types of jobs, enhance their transferable skills, and establish the proper work attitude and values. This will help them adapt to economic and social changes,  and strive for their ideal career.

Utilizing alumni and external networks to enhance opportunities for students to pursue their dreams

Our school has a long history and a large alumni network that has made significant contributions across various sectors of society. Every year, the school invites different alumni to share their experiences with our students during different events. As experienced individuals, they provide encouragement, share their learning insights, struggles, subject selection strategies, and career experiences, to empower our students to overcome the challenges they may face. These exchanges also help students realize that university and professional life are not just classroom learning, but rather an environment full of opportunities and challenges.

Participating in university information days and experiencing courses to set early education goals

Our school actively arranges for students to attend the information days and experience courses of different universities. This allows high school students to understand the course content, admission requirements, university hostel life, and internship opportunities, with the hope that students will have a clear goal to pursue their aspirations. Students gain an in-depth understanding of well-known universities in Hong Kong, which motivates them to set these as their future study goals and make an early, definitive career plan.

Uncovering students’ potential and striving for excellence

Our school encourages students to unleash their potential by actively participating in various competitions organized by different institutions, such as the “Career Planner Competition” by the Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.) and the Asian International Etiquette Competition. These help young people understand their own career potential and acquire early knowledge on career planning, assisting them to take the first step in their career journey.

Our Career and Counselling Committee is committed to helping students make informed decisions and realise their full potential by enriching their life planning and career-related experiences.

Our team will provide students with the most up-to-date and appropriate information, taking into account unique individual qualities such as talents, interests, and abilities, to assist them in future planning, including furthering their studies or securing employment. Every year, we hold a number of activities, namely career talks, visits to universities and workplaces, individual and group counselling, mentor programmes, soci games, mock interviews, job shadowing, etc., to connect students’ learning to the real world, strengthen their self-understanding, and develop their career and academic aspirations. We hope that by the time our students graduate from our school, they will not only be well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for academic pursuits but also prepared for the challenges that they will face in the workplace.
