Social Service

Social Service

To help students’ whole person development, our school attaches great importance to “social service”. Its role is to complement classroom knowledge and provide students with a variety of “learning” and “experience” opportunities. “Social Service” can help students understand diverse values through unique experiences and can also expand students’ horizons. It is of great educational value and practicality. When our school plans “social services”, we will develop their potential and help them grow from “learning” and “experience”. Our school provides opportunities for students to participate in social development on different platforms, such as: CYC, Volunteer Service Group, Girl Guides, Red Cross Youth Unit, Elder Academy, etc., and plans youth-related community activities in the district. Health-in-Mind Programme enables students to plan different workshops and activities to help students understand the needs of mentally rehabilitated people and avoid discrimination.

CYC

Adhering to the spirit of Hong Kong True Light College’s “Public Welfare and Mutual Encouragement”, our school’s Community Youth Club organized a number of volunteer services to serve the community this year to cultivate students’ leadership skills and mutual encouragement spirit.

Activities include:

  • Charity flower sale
  • Aberdeen Kaifong Association-Southern District Warmth Delivery 2023-24
  • Christmas cookie activity
  • Hong Kong Southern District Women’s Association-Visiting elderly people living alone
  • Hong Kong Southern District Women’s Association-Painting Workshop

Elder Academy

To enable the elderly and students to realize their potentials, develop a healthy body and mind, and live an active life in a harmonious community that respects and cares for the elderly, to achieve “ageing with something to do”, “ageing with support” and “ageing with belonging”. In addition to providing lifelong learning opportunities for the elderly, it also provides young people with the opportunity to interact with the elderly, achieving harmony between the elderly and the young.

Health-in-Mind Programme

Students collaborate with off-campus organizations to plan off-campus volunteer services related to mental health or health promotion through Health-in-Mind Programme, which empowers students as mental health advocates to promote mental health to fellow students, their families, and the public at large through interactive activities and experiential personal development training.
